Hi All I got kicked off the Senaite forums on Friday for challenging double standards and objecting to false interpretations of an earlier post. Full story to follow if the differences cannot be resolved. Having been on the receiving end of autocratic censorship before - remember John H KoolAid Jones of '/It is good to be king'/ fame and his FOSS FUD - this is nothing compared to what activists had to deal with during the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. Freedom of speech is now firmly cementedin our admirable new constitution. Except for curtailing hate speech, censorship imho does not make for healthy communities, especially in Open Source where freedom and transparency are fundamental. Airing opinions in open robust debate is much more constructive than hiding from inconvenient truths behind political correctness. Decorum and netiquette are established through self regulatory dynamics - don't adhere and get ignored or cut down. 'We may dislike what you say, but will defend your right to say it'. Much more annoying are subscribers wanting to be spoon-fed without research or trying things themselves. Like with this post, views expressed by participants are their own. Bests l |
