HI Adam, Windows 7 is not a problem - I use it too. The # signs in your zope.conf are comment indicators. So remove them, and you should be fine. It should look like this: <environment> HTTP_MANAGE $ZOPE_MANAGEZODB_PORT IDServerURL http://localhost:8081 </environment> Regards, Anneline -----Original Message----- From: Adam May Sent: Friday, October 07, 2011 1:09 PM To: bik...@li... Subject: Re: [bika-users] IDServer issues Windows Installation Hi, Thanks for the response. I have followed the guide posted on http://www.bikalabs.com/helpcentre/manual/bika-installation-guides/bika- on-windows/installing-bika-lims-2-0 In the in C:\Program Files\Plone 2\Data\etc\zope.conf I have edited the <Environment> paragraph in the Environment directive, to include the ID Server address and maintained the HTTP_MANAGE $ZOPE_MANAGEZODB_PORT setting so my zope.conf <Environment> now reads <environment> # HTTP_MANAGE $ZOPE_MANAGEZODB_PORT # IDServerURL http://localhost:8081 </environment> I have looked on task manager and IDServer is not present but when I run IDserver by running the Start_IDServer script in C:\Program Files\Plone 2\Data the only thing visible in the task manager is an additional C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe. which I assume is the script running . There is also a scripts folder on task manager which when I goto the process switches to the scripts folder in C:\Program Files\Plone 2\Data\products\bika\scripts . I think I am doing something stupid but I cannot work out what . I have tried for a couple of days now without any luck . Could it be because I am running on Windows 7/Vista ? Thanks for any help . Message-ID: <4E8...@bi...> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hi All Apologies for cross posting We have a pre-?lpha release of the main Bika 3 functionality running on Plone 4 for a while now and promised a public upgrade by yesterday to seduce more testers into participating. Alas, poor Yorick... Please stand by. We are working our way through the workflow intricacies one more time. The already complex interaction during status changes to Analyses, Analysis Requests, Samples and Worksheets, were further complicated with new cancellation and versioning functions. The demo installation carries more information on these topics. If you are an experienced Bika user, please consider participating in testing, your comment are valuable. I'll write to the list again when we are ready. To: <bik...@li...> Message-ID: <086...@sb...uaEnviro.local> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Hi All, I have being going through the mailing list and I have not seen a solution to this problem so here it goes . I have followed the instructions for running on XP, the computers I have tried to install the system onto are a Windows 7 laptop and windows Vista. I have got the program up and running, convinced plone to run without issues etc. and been able to make the Bika interface . Everything seems okay until I try and do anything in it - such as adding a client which case the error Error type IDServerUnavailable Error Value ID Server Unavailable Now when I check it by local host it works giving an incremental number each time the page is reloaded . What I am concerned with though is there IDserver just seems to hang there (as pictured) - it does not appear in the task manager and never retruns to the c:/prompt . If anyone can help I would be most greatful .
