Hi Bryan, Thanks, it now it works for me with both "-source 1.6 -target 1.6" and "-source 1.7 -target 1.7". The runtime (with matching JDK) that I have installed is: $ java -version java version "1.7.0_147-icedtea" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.0) (7~b147-2.0-0ubuntu0.11.10.1) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 21.0-b17, mixed mode) $ javac -version javac 1.7.0_147 I will get to testing bigdata out now.
