Scrolling

Mouse scrolling

Scrolling is most easily done by placing the cursor over the PET, CT, fusion, or MIP images and moving the mouse wheel.

The mouse wheel may be too slow for large changes. You may also hold down the mouse wheel (it is also a button in addition to being a wheel), and drag the cursor up and down over the image.

Keyboard scrolling

Scrolling may also be accomplished via the keyboard. The up and down arrows move 1 slice. The PageUp and PageDown move N slices where N is set in Pet-Ct Options.

The transaxial view doesn't always have the same number of slices for PET and CT. For example if you are scrolling on the PET, the CT slice may either skip over a slice or repeat the same CT slice twice. This makes sense if you are primarily inspecting the PET slices. If you now want to shift your attention to the CT slices, click on the CT. Now CT will scroll smoothly while PET may skip or repeat. The last click determines which set will be continuous.

The < and > keys (with or without the Shift key) have been added for CT scrolling only. You may have clicked on the PET, which will make the arrow keys go smoothly on the PET, but you want the CT to go smoothly. The < > keys solve this as they will always go smoothly over the CT no matter what is the last thing you clicked on.

There is no need to do a lot of clicking to go from slice to slice. Just hold down the arrow and it will scroll continuously. You may adjust the speed of the scrolling by using the left and right arrow keys. When you press them you will see "Key delay = (a number between 0 and 9)", on the Fiji status bar. For a slower scroll, set a higher value.

The Home key will go directly to the middle slice in the coronal and sagittal views, whereas in the axial view it will go to the extremities of the frame. If the current frame is closer to the bottom of the frame, it will jump to the bottom. If the current frame is closer to the top of the frame, it will go to the top. However, if the frame is already at the bottom, it will jump to the top and vice versa. Thus you may toggle between the 2 extremities.

Gated and dynamic studies

In these studies pressing the Gated Cine button will cause a "beating" display. Unclicking the button will stop on a particular time slice. In the above discussion the problem was to move from one slice to another. Here we want to move through the time display on the same slice. To do so, use the keyboard right and left arrow keys.
