Choosing Pet-Ct Viewer in the Fiji Plugins menu will display a dialog similar to the example below. This dialog shows a list of studies which Fiji has already opened and which are presently being displayed.
The patient's name and ID have been blacked out for privacy. Note that the OK button is not active. This is because no series have yet been chosen. The checkbox is clicked for each series which will participate. Whenever a legal combination has been chosen, the OK button will become active.
The above example has 1 CT series plus 1 attenuation corrected and 1 uncorrected PET (notice the Type: CT, CPet - Corrected PET and UPet - Uncorrected PET). Thus in this case all 3 series will probably be chosen. The OK button will be pressed and the Pet-Ct viewer will display the data including the fusion of the PET with the CT.
In certain cases only a single modality is available so no fusion is possible. In such a case check the single study of interest and press OK. The display 3 viewer will show the data in the axial, coronal and sagittal views.
Note: The first time this dialog appears, it will have a default size and all columns will have the same width. You should resize the dialog to your preference as well as resizing each of the columns. For example, the checkbox column has been reduced and the Series column has been expanded. Whenever you leave the dialog the way you resized it is remembered and is used the next time around.
There are cases where the data has been saved with incorrect DICOM data. In these cases the Pet-Ct Viewer will not be opened automatically and you will need to manually choose Pet-Ct Viewer in the Fiji Plugins menu. The example study has a CT and corrected PET but the OK button remains dimmed after checking both of the series.
In the Type column you can see that the CT study has been incorrectly saved as an uncorrected PET. (The Series column marks it as a CT B30S 5.0 series.) This prevents it from being opened. You may click on the UPet and change it to CT, in which case the OK will become active.
