If you run it from e.g. a vnc session, you can detach from the vnc process and leave bidwatcher running in the vnc display. If you need a plain cli snipe utility, I've found esniper to be quite capable: http://esniper.sourceforge.net/ -- John Thompson (jo...@os...) Appleton WI USA |

You definitely need twisted. You also need pygtk >= 2.0. I don't remember if there is anything else right now. * dev-python/pygtk Latest version available: 2.8.2 With 2.8.2 now installed, a new error: ./bidwatcher.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "./bidwatcher.py", line 37, in ? import gnome.ui ImportError: No module named gnome.ui I'm not running the Gnome window manager. r |

A friend of mine recently gave my python version of bidwatcher a go on Windows, and sure enough it worked. There is a win32 version of pygtk/gtk/python/twisted and it seems to work once you get those things installed, so this is a nice side-effect to using python. Certain strange things don't work (like some of the icons), but take a look anyway. http://bowser.pheared.net/~kevin/bidwatcher/bidwatcher-winxp_ss.png -kpd |

There was some effort to connect the two, but IMO it's an ugly hack to hook up C/C++ to perl in that way. bidwatcher would probably benefit from being developed in one of the interpreted languages on the whole, but not pieces from both. -kpd |

Two Patches attached. 1) Bids do not show up, Bidwatcher has no clue what the current bid is. 2) Sellers Id is Broken with Ebay Motors. 3) Bidding is Broken, Sniping Also I am sure, Can be fixed by using eBayAgent-1.129.pl CVS Version just copy eBayAgent-1.129.pl to anywhere in your path as eBayAgent and applying the bidwatcher-eBayAgent.dif patch bidding and sniping will work except for Dutch auctions. http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/ebayagent/eBayAgent/ ( eBayAgent has to be setup ) .ebayrc Contents below user "Ebay User Id" pass "Ebay User Password" mailuser "Eba...@wh...main" X_eBayAgentLocation PATH/eBayAgent 4) Ebay Motors is sometimes Broken, Not sure whats up with this. 5) Item Descriptions has more than just the Description of the Item, Really bad with Ebay Motors. At any rate these are the steps taken by me to get bidwatcher working again. Use the patches or not it is up to you. Thomas |

The current CVS should be able to at least watch auctions now. (I don't know if the anoncvs is still delayed, so if it is, just wait a bit or I can cut a tarball if anyone needs it.) -kpd On Tue, Aug 09, 2005 at 11:14:56PM -0400, Kevin Dwyer wrote: > On Mon, Aug 08, 2005 at 08:24:16PM -0500, Karl Schmidt wrote: > > Is this package working or broken at this point in time? > > Broken. The cvs version of eBayAgent works for bidding on auctions. I have attached a patch to the cvs version of bidwatcher.cpp that will allow bidding for now if eBayAgent is setup on your Machine.
