I'm not really sure what to do for that one. If you want to just keep moving, you can just replace those frees with a semicolon (;) to keep the code moving. It may leak a little bit of memory but you might be able to use the program. -kpd |

Its type is supposed to be int, not char*()(). I just checked google and it seems this is a well known problem with Cygwin. It can apparently be solved with some autoconf foo, but one thing you can try is to change that line again to: gmt_time = -_timezone; For whatever wacked out reason Cygwin has created a wrapper around the real timezone variable. -kpd |

Hi, I've been using bidwatcher since a month, and I do believe it's a great tool. I use it @home on my Slackware box, and @work on a Debian machine. My Slackware box just failed (bad update with slapt-get), and the Debian machine is a server, so I shouldn't use bidwatcher on it. I gave a try at bidwatcher on Cygwin (my desktop machine is a Windows machine @work), but the compilation failed. Is any Cygwin port scheduled? Thanks. Hello, I just published another snapshot of bidwatcher. It contains some minor patches by T.E. and me. The snapshot can be found at: http://www.sturnus.de/bidwatcher/bidwatcher.html Management of snipe-groups has been improved: you can use ctrl-left-mouse to change snipegroups instead of middle-mouse (which still works). -- Live long and prosper! I would wait a little for some responses. Most known bugs should be fixed now. We will see how bidwatcher compiles/runs on different platforms. Hello, I put a snapshot of the current CVS (bidwatcher-1.3.15-jan-5) to http://www.sturnus.de/bidwatcher/bidwatcher.html That shapshot runs fine for me although it did'nt make it to the next stable release till now. The patch for the current segfault was provided by Klaus Singvogel. This snapshot also contains several new features (especially snipe-groups) that cannot be found in 1.3.15. Watch out: my version requires the Standard Template Library of C++, but this is not checked by configure. I simply dont't have any experiences with the autoconf-stuff. I compiled with gcc 3.4.1., but older versions should be fine, too. I expect everything from gcc 2.95.3 on to work. Happy eBaying. -- Live long and prosper! Familiarity breeds attempt. Hi all. Yes, the current version is broken. I really would like to fix it, but with my new job and 3 summer classes I have found that I really am completely out of time for the next while, and working on bidwatcher is going to be overextending myself. So, I'm soliciting help from anyone who may want to take the reigns from me indefinitely. The only main order of business is to fix the broken parsing, but there is plenty to do if you're particularly motivated. Thanks for your patience. -kpd |

I just came up with an official release name for 1.3.14: ``fonts suck.'' :-) Of course, if anyone figures it out on their own, patches are always entertained. -- - kpd |

Hi everyone, the new font was ugly, so I confugured a new one, which is unfortunately wider that the previous one. Now bidwatcher's columns are too narrow, and I have to resize them after every start. a) Could there be a way to retain the column size when retaining the window size after exit? b) Could bidwatcher figure out the font size/width (fontconfig? hints?) and size them appropriately? Probably not... Just asking, ;-) Moritz |

Dave Stuart wrote: > Would it be possible to run Bidwatcher on my web server which stays on all the time? I do have plans to implement a bidwatching agent that can sit in the background on a server and snipe away. Of course, I have to go to school and work so this is not my priority and it will get done when it gets done. One thing I've been considering lately is if I should devote more effort to this very feature for the future, and make it mandatory. That is, the client only talks to the server, which works on eBay and the client simultaneously. It would be relatively simple to have bidwatcher behave as it currently does under this scheme, by letting the client start and stop its server process unless configured to let it stay up. Comments from the audience are appreciated. -- -kpd |
