Bibdesk reproducibly crashed on Yosemite. Please, try the following:

  1. Start Bibdesk. The main window pops up, and I can work as usual.

  2. Close the main window with

(a) cmd-w: Bibdesk will crash after a moment.

(b) the close button of the main window: The window will disappear. Bibdesk will still be the active program (in the menu bar). It is not possible to open a Bibdesk +window anymore. When switching to another application, there is no way to return to +Bibdesk. Termination of Bibdesk via the Dock requires Force-Quit.

Can you attach a crash report?

In the attachment you find what I pasted from the Problem Report Window. The only other option was to send to Apple.

    Best,

    Thomas

Thanks. BTW, crash reports can be found in Console.app.

I am not completely sure what you did exactly, but the report does not correspond to your described action. The report is one that hangs on opening a document, not on closing one. And moreover, in getting layout of some text field, deep inside AppKit, some problem accessing caches.

Also, what setting do you use for Application Launch in the General preferences? What if you change that?

I open my Bibtex File. The problem disappears when I switch to an empty file. Would you be interested in that Bibtex file? Although this might be an exceptional situation, user data should probably not crash an application.

Not necessary to see the data, I think, as it does not seem to be related to loading the data. And of course it should not hang on this (it does not seem to be a crash, it's a hang). The problem seems to be that something is blocking the cash access, but that is all done by the system, so I am afraid there is not, much we can do about that.

Avtually, it is not really a crash report. It's a report of a hang. I don't think this report has anything to do with the problem you are describing. Please try to see if you have an actual crash report of this event, perhaps when this happens again.

Closed as this is old and there was not enough information to determine any crash
