#3 Menu system unstable

I can click a menu from a frame once and it behaves ok
but when I close the menu and try it again it becomes
unstable. By unstable I mean it closes shortly after
it opens (similar to MacOS if you don't hold down the
mouse button). If I started the app from a console I
get 'unimplemented feature' messages.
