Have you tried compiling from source? I havent tried using the binary
version, but if its not showing up then it usualy impiles that its not
been configured correctly, Dosnt kubuntu use Debian packages, if you
can find a debian package for it try that. The problem I had with not
recognising a plugin was it was installed in the rong directory (i
think it should be /usr/share/bmp/plugins/ or somthing like that)
