I already asked for it in the wiki, but noone reply me there. Now I am in Fedora Core 6. Formerly I used ASPLinux<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASPLinux>v11 based on Fedora Core <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedora_Core> 4 and there I installed BMP with plugins by the same way, as I installed it here. - BMP 0.9.7.1 by *./configure && make && make install* - dumb 0.9.3 by *make && make install* - dumb-bmp from Nov 2004 by *make && make install* And in ASPLinux I had 5 plugins to decode all what I need. Have you tried compiling from source? I havent tried using the binary version, but if its not showing up then it usualy impiles that its not been configured correctly, Dosnt kubuntu use Debian packages, if you can find a debian package for it try that. The problem I had with not recognising a plugin was it was installed in the rong directory (i think it should be /usr/share/bmp/plugins/ or somthing like that) Sorry I can't give you any more help Jammers On 6/8/05, bastya elvtars <bas...@gm...> wrote: > Well, I have to say that bmp is a lightweigtht but powerful and > extremely well-sounding piece of software. Well, I have to say that bmp is a lightweigtht but powerful and extremely well-sounding piece of software. I am using it with kubuntu 5.04 (hoary) and I am having problems with the input plugins. I usually get RPMs and alien them. I succeeded with the latest SuSE RPMS. Howwever, he FLAC plugin siply won't show up in plugin list, same goes for the precompiled flac plugin. What have I done wrong? Also would be nice if someone wanted to collect the plugins for beep - I would give every help needed, even a dedicated server. |

Hello BMP dev' ! Now is XMMS dead, I can totally use BMP :-) , I find very interesting and beautiful. But there is ONE thing I disagree : Maybe it's my brain, but I can't select with the mouse some audio files. For example, if i want to hear & play tracks 01 & 09, the user must click on CTRL and use the mouse to choose the two tracks. i don't like this method.... So is it possible one day, to select files with JUST the mouse and not run ctrl.... ???? Maybe am I a XMMS junky.... Thanks for your help, let's continue this great stuff ! STan. |

However, saving "foo.pls" DOES work. ah - you have to use ".pls" as an extension! yep - does work. thanks! :-) > Developers should have probably specified > the default type for a case like that. indeed! now.. how to add this one to the bugzilla thing? anyone? The error means that BMP doesn't know which type of playlist you want to save. Saving file as "foo" doesn't work. However, saving "foo.pls" DOES work. Developers should have probably specified the default type for a case like that. RQ |

Beep Media Player 0.9.7 on Debian. short description: BMP does not allow to save playlists. problem description: when i use the command button "LIST" from the playlist window (the one showing the "ADD SUB SEL MISC + LIST" buttons) this following popup list comes up: "NEW LIST N LOAD LIST O SAVE LIST S UPDATE VIEW F5" using 'S' gives a dialog to enter a filename. but no matter which filename i choose i get an error box which says "unable to save playlist! unknown file type /dir/file" i'm stumped. it is completely unclear to me what i can do at all here. do i need to create a special file type before i can save a playlist at all? and why? i wonder: since when does anyone have to create file type in any way before a program can *save* its data? anyway, that way you cannot save *any* playlist from bmp. conclusion: saving data from bmp is not possible. and this makes BMP quite useless. :-/ Sven |

Hi. I answered this question in the forum. It's now gone so I'll reiterate the reason for this decision here. The short reason is that the code used to support doublesize is clunky and doesn't work correctly with window snapping and shading. Making doublesize a compile time option solves the second issue but compound the first.=20 Also, we didn't think it was used often enough to keep the maintenance overhead and could afford to drop it to make the window management and rendering code easier to work with.=20 Someone pointed out that some laptop TFT displays run at extremely high native resolutions (as in DPI, not screen dimension in pixels) which are fixed. We had clearly overlooked this. However, if anyone writes a clean replacement for doublesize (or even better, for an arbitrary scale), we'll put it right back in. > Message: 1 > Date: Tue, 8 Mar 2005 19:52:51 +0100 > From: Mads Martin Joergensen <mm...@mm...> > To: bee...@li... > Subject: [Beepmp-users] DoubleSize removed ... why? >=20 > Hey BMP users, >=20 > I've just recently started using this nice xmms replacement. Hey BMP users, I've just recently started using this nice xmms replacement. Why is it that the DoubleSize option was removed? Wouldn't it have been enough to make it a compiletime option? -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A.
