#1070 "change your username" problem

I have beebeep on 4 computers on my work network. Three of them (all linux) have the same usernames but different hostnames. On one particular pc when I start it in the morning it says:

Your system account is david
"press OK to continue or change your username"

then I press OK and it says
"your name is not changed, do you want to continue? "(has the hostname pre-filled in)

I tried making a beebeep.rc file (it didn't exist) with UseHostnameForDefaultUsername=true in it, but it didn't seem to do anything.

any suggestions? I'd like it to just use the hostname and not ask me every time.
