Cache mechanisms are very hard to configure properly, and they constantly change effectiveness if the usage patterns change.

The cache mechanism should try to accumulate usage patterns and effectiveness statistics, and adjust itself to maximum performance. To do this it should adjust itself constantly, watch out for unstable (over-,under-) controlling. It can even use some evolution algorithm, graph searching or other AI algorithm to do this.

If the configuration system is two-way, it could alter it's setting in the configuration.
