Hi,
thanks for your feedback. CBR files are actually rar archives of a collection of images. What happen here is that the library BDReader is using to decompress rar archives (libarchive) doesn't deal properly with some of these archives. The "big red X" is the default image displayed when an image is not loaded properly. I noticed the problem with several CBR already (and should add that to the wiki somewhere) ...
The problem now is that, as said, it depends on a third party library and even is the issue is known, it's not fixed yet. I have no plan to fix that myself soon (which would involve to switch to a different archive library) and completelly depend on the evolution of libarchive.
A temporary solution still if you wish to use BDReader with these files:
1) Use your favorite archive tool, uncompress the CBR (as you would do with any rar file)
2) Recompress the obtained folder into a new RAR file
3) Simply change the extension from RAR to CBR (just rename the file form my_comics.rar to my_comics.cbr)
4) Open the new CBR with BDReader, hopefully your archive software will have created a readable rar
Note, you can also skip steps 2 and 3 and directly open the obtained image folder with BDReader, that's even more likely to work (just take a bit more space on your Hard Drive...).

While trying to view a CBR file in BD Reader some pages are not shown correctly. Instead of the artwork there is a big red X on a white background.
Windows 7 64bit
I've tried panel, strip and page mode. Tried it with thumbnail, page preview and fullscreen off and on.
It's a good program and I really like the panel view,
Thanks for your time,
