Okay, a couple of links for the project website appear to be effectively broken. These include the link to "BBMap Web Site" under the heading "Follow BBMap" on the Summary tab on the SourceForge page at https://sourceforge.net/projects/bbmap/ . Also, on the Support tab under the heading "Project Homepage". The linked URL in both instances is http://jgi.doe.gov/data-and-tools/bbtools/ . Following the link behaves in a way that suggests to me an underlying 404 not found error that is handled by the website. Anyway, specifically what happens is it redirects to a page with the URL https://jgi.doe.gov/search?search_api_fulltext=data%20tools%20bbtools which is a search page with the error/ warning message "The page you requested does not exist. For your convenience, a search was performed using the query data tools bbtools." at the top. There isn't anything relevant in the top of the search results,

Okay, the above URL linked from the project website still does not work. However, I have found what appears to be the original content at https://archive.jgi.doe.gov/data-and-tools/software-tools/bbtools/ . I'm not sure the implication of this now being on the "archive" website - does that mean the project has been wound up? Although that doesn't appear to be consistent with the amount of recent updates (since the above post) to BBMap/ BBTools,

I still spend all of my time developing BBTools. However, due to internal politics, the JGI website has changed to not feature any JGI-developed bioinformatics software (BBTools, MetaHipmer, etc). Feel free to send an email to JGI's director (nmouncey@lbl.gov) if you think it is helpful for JGI's users to have bioinformatics software such as BBTools on its website, because helping users is supposed to be our goal.
