i have been trying to get the bbkeys stuff to work
within a vnc session with out much success.

bbkeys does run, the keyhole pops up, it does create
the .bbkeysrc file with the correct content (as far as
i can tell), but the effect is nil. i have killed the
vnc session and restarted and still no effect.

is this a new condition for its use or is there still
something that i am missing?

i am assuming the bbkeys program doesn't have to
running for the effect to take place? i have tried it
both ways with bbkeys running and not.

thanks

um. I've never tried this. I know there are issues when
running in anything other than the default X session (i.e.
Xnest). What exactly happens/doesn't happen here?

unfortunately, absolutely nothing.. no crash, no error
messages that i can find. bbox continues to work as normal.

The following is a typical log file from vnc.
    01/07/04 16:25:00 Xvnc version 3.3.tight1.2.9

I am using a modified xmodmap to swap ctrl and capslock that
is obeyed by the vnc session.

    Hi Kevin,

When you get a chance, if you'd be able to try the newest version of bbkeys
(I'm about to release 1.0.0, but 0.9.0 should be sufficient too) and run it with
the -D option for debugging? I'd like to get this working but don't use vnc so
I'm not sure what'd going right or wrong. =:)

Please post back with your findings!!

    Thanks!!!

I am currious about this one cause it does work for me.
What are your two machines running? The one you VNC into
and from. My FROM box is a Debian Testing, and my TO box is
Debian Stable. The TO box is running blackbox 0.65 and
    bbkeys 0.8.6.

On the TO box, I just made a very simple config file (all
    one line, may wrap):

    KeyToGrab(x), WithModifier(Control),
    WithAction(ExecCommand), DoThis(xterm)

    and it worked fine.

Could it also be a problem with keymapings?

i have loaded bb 7 a few months ago, but have not updated my
    bbkeys.

at the moment, i am up to my ears with real work and
although having a working bbkeys would be beneficial i can
not spend time on this as the moment. in a couple of weeks
    i could tear myself away.

sorry, i can't be immediately helpful.

more info, rhe3 is both the source and destination(viewer)
and win2k is used as a viewer. i haven't tried bbkeys from
the win2k box assuming that if i couldn't get the linux
version to work, the windows viewer wouldn't work either.
