&lt;p&gt;This is the first version. Its not taking any arguments and returns only an integer between 0 and 100 which is the status of the battery in percent.
It can find batteries in the /proc/ and the /sys/ directory which makes it suitable for the most Linux distributions and versions. Its tested with Debian and Ubuntu.
