Are you referring to TESyncScrap? "Typical non-Carbon apps synchronize the system clipboard with the TextEdit clipboard when you switch layers, i.e. bring another app forward. If in between copying text and switching layers the app crashes, or quits without synchronizing, or you're running it in an emulator and you try to paste in another app in the host OS, you'll get stale data. A similar issue pertains to pasting into the emulator.
