BTW, the patch I've just posted seems to work also for pictures, as I could copy a sample image from Picture Viewer in Mac OS 9 and paste it in Mac OS X's Preview.
I have no picture editor in my classic environment, so I can't tell for pasting into Classic, but it might worth trying.
