CW-- You bring up an excellent point: my goal is not necessarily to emulate the NeXT hardware. Put simply my real goal is to be able to run some m68k-only NeXT applications, and since we already have x86 versions of NeXTSTEP/OPENSTEP, it may be better to emulate just the CPU in NeXTSTEP/OPENSTEP-x86 itself, rather than trying to emulate the entire platform. This would be similar to what Apple did for the m68k-to-PPC conversion, which allowed the direct execution of m68k Mac OS apps on the PPC platform. I'll check on QEMU - thanks.
