that is surely because the opcode conversion cache (If im not wrong, =20 that is how SS works currently) - the JIT and so on When it is booting it is executing almost all PowerPC instructions =20 (belive me, MacOS does most! xD), so they are converted, then, they =20 are already cached and things works faster. I think in Windows JIT is currently broken, so there is no so cache =20 in windows and that's why boots faster (but, therorically, you should =20= see it is really faster in Linux). I hope it helped.
