If I recall correctly, DGA-2 on Linux works great as well as on FreeBSD, but I doubt if it works on Solaris or even Mac OS X. OTOH, SDL is available on Linux, BSD, Irix, Win32, BeOS, Mac OS (classic), Mac OS X, and even AmigaOS. SDL has been improved a lot (and being used a lot by Loki Game ports which all of them use SDL) and I think it could be an excellent replacement to what we have today with the DGA. It also means you could finally join many ports (Unix & Win32) since SDL is available for both of them and saving quite a lot of work.. It also supports all the DGA extensions (even Xv). Just my thoughts ;) Hetz |
