	On Mac OS X, the configure script generated by autoconf did
not work because it did not know about that version of Unix. What I
had to do was replace the config.guess and config.sub files in the
Unix directory with the versions from /usr/libexec

	I could be wrong here, or misunderstanding the problem, but
if the program that autoconf and ./configure is generating will not
compile, then doesn't that mean that the version of autoconf, or its
data files, is incompatible with the SGI?

	The fix may be as simple as installing a later version of
the autoconf package.
