In preparation for a release around October 27th, I've put a tarball
on sourceforge which you can get at via
http://bashdb.sf.net/bashdb-4.0-cvs.tar.gz

When I run "make check", I got following message:

Should be fixed now and I've updated
http://bashdb.sf.net/bashdb-4.0-cvs.tar.gz with the change.
