Yet Another Fix to Install.sh.

When the symlink is created, Install will make sure that the bin directory 
exists, by creating it if necessary.

All cp and mkdir commands will now cause an abort if they fail.

The prefix variable will now have a trailing / removed if it's there.

(I guess I'm seeing why we want this to have been in trunk. Sorry.)
