Hello, First, sorry that some of you will receive two copies of this, but not everyone is on the bacula-announce list. Last night I posted version 1.20 of Bacula. This is a fairly major release with the following major changes: - Implementation of automatic catalog pruning at the end of every Job. This prevents your catalog from continuously growing. - Implementation of automatic Volume recycling when new Volumes are needed. This plus the changes to the Run record (see below) allow you to cycle through tapes in several Pools. - Specification of Level, Storage, Pool, and Messages on the Run record in the Schedule resource. - Multiple Messages resources (different types of Jobs can send their output to different places). - Improvements in the gnome-console program (better painting, ...) - A fair amount of additional documentation including two new chapters. - Fixed the query command bug. In upgrading to the new version, please carefully note that you have specified a location for the SubSys Directory that is not the same as your binary directory otherwise, your binary files will be deleted when you stop Bacula. Previous examples and manual had this incorrect! During the final testing and code review, I realized that Volume pruning, while respecting the Volume Retention period does not ensure that a later full backup exists before deleting a Job. In the interest of getting the release out sooner, I did not fix this, but will do so in version 1.21 You can find it in the usual place: www.sourceforge.net/projects/bacula Please don't hesitate to ask questions about the new automatic pruning -- your questions help me considerably in writing the documentation.
