Michael, Thank you for responding. 3) (My bad...) What I should have communicated is that the input port 19103 is only listening to the loop back address and nowhere else. Sounds like my solution will have to be VPN based instead of SSH based. Okay...I'm up to the task. /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ David Gardner email: djgardner(at)yahoo.com Yahoo! I believe so. However I see a problem you may encounter. The storage daemon's address is passed to the FD after the directer tells the SD to get ready for input. However, the SD's address will be different depending on whether your connecting from the DIR or the FD. It would be feasable to have the SD on the same machine as the DIR, then your addresses would match (assuming you could leave the port as 9102/9103 instead of 19102/19103). I ran some backup tests using this particular ssh solution, but I found it to be VERY unreliable for long drawn-out backups. However, a VPN functioned much more reliably and was easier to configure. > 2) Does the Bacula-SD.conf have a way to direct commands to another port as part of a job description? No. > 3) For SSHv2 gurus: why does the later 'ssh' command only show up as localhost port-forwarding on the respective machines? How do you mean showing up? SSH port forwarding was designed to forward I/O from a machine located on the remote network to localhost. Forwarding it anywhere else is not advisable or secure.
