I've found a minor problem with using NTBACKUP backup systemstate to
save the state on a Windows machine before doing a backup. NTBackup, it
appears, will occasionally (at its own whim and for no apparent reason)
decide that the systemstate.bkf file was created by another application
and refuse to overwrite it without operator confirmation. The backup
job then hangs waiting for NTBackup to exit.
The simple fix to this problem, of course, is to modify the
systemstate.bat file to delete c:\systemstate.bkf immediately before
My modified systemstate.bat file is included below, since Sourceforge
won't allow me to attach it:
echo Deleting old system state file...
echo Saving system state...
%systemroot%\system32\ntbackup.exe backup systemstate /F c:\systemstate.bkf
echo System state save complete.
