This will allow the Apache server to use the same password as other services on the network. Since BackupPC restricts a user to only see the backups for hosts that they are the configured as the owner, you can allow anyone to authenticate to the web server and then BackupPC will handle the authorization. This is how I setup my BackupPC server, and it's kind of nice to be able to say, "If you have any problems with your password, contact IT for help with your LDAP password. I have no control of the password database for this server." :-) Steve |
