Richard, I'm running the same environment as you and as Craig has already pointed out, removing the "-T" will help you. You will probably have similar problems running zip and tar restores, however. If you get the time, I would like you to verify the following claims. First, if you are running setuid (vs. mod_perl), if you try restoring via zip or tar (not the direct option), download the resulting "restore.xxx" and look at it's size. It will probably be 1k. If so, you can open it up with a text editor and see that it says something like: Insecure dependency in exec while running setuid at /usr/local/backuppc/lib/BackupPC/Lib.pm line 1105 Removing the "-T" doesn't solve this problem. William McKee suggested using the Safe package but I haven't had time to investigate. Second, on your backup server and as your backuppc user, try creating a tar file using BackupPC_tarCreate. For example: BackupPC_tarCreate -h myhost -n 0 -s /usr/local etc > file.tar Then, issue: tar tvf file.tar Do you see: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers? There are a couple references in the backuppc-users archive: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=2275844 http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=2274743 But there wasn't any answer. I looked around on the Internet and only found references that indicated tar was being used on compressed files without the "z" param. Using the "-R", tar spits out that it finds "blocks of null". So, I assume this means it found a null header block. I tried different things like modifying the block size on read, disabling quit on failure and even using dd to ensure block limits. Tried using the tarCreate on a Solaris box and it worked fine. Tried using tar by itself and it worked fine, too. Creating a zip file works great, tho. So, all I can say thus far is using tarCreate on a RH 9.0 with perl 5.8.0 doesn't work. If you can verify (or someone else), I can verify it's not just me. @whee. Anyone? - Wade -----Original Message----- From: Richard Gill [mailto:ric...@cy...] Sent: Sunday, June 29, 2003 9:52 PM To: bac...@li... Subject: [BackupPC-users] Error: RH9 and Taint Mode Hi, I've just setup a new backup server (the old one is getting decommissioned). This new one is on Redhat 9.0 with BackupPC 2.0.0. I have installed it Mod Perl as per the documentation. However I get the following error when initating a Full Backup on a client: Insecure dependency in exec while running with -T switch at /backups/bin/BackupPC line 557 Unfortunately, Perl is not really my strong point - any help would be greatly appreciated!
