We are currently testing BackupPC in our office. However, one problem we have run into is in backing up a system which contains a 2.4gb file. BackupPC appears to copy the first 2gb (2147483647 bytes) of the file, at which point it returns an error and fails to copy the rest of the file. The error found in the log file is: tarExtract: Integer overflow in octal number at /etc/backuppc/bin/BackupPC_tarExtract line 158. I am able to recognize the fact that 2147483647 is the largest decimal number that Perl can convert to an octal. However, I don't know enough about Perl or BackupPC to be able to suggest a solution to this problem. What I would like to know is if BackupPC can be improved so that it can handle files > 2gb? Or should I begin looking for an alternate method to backup this file? Thanks.. -Ryan |
