I am backing up a server using rsync. The server has two "shares",
uploads and dbBackups. The first full backup worked just peachy.
Since I'm still new to BackupPC I'm watching how it works pretty closely.
As the incremental backup started, I saw it create the 'new' directory,
and all the subdirectories for the uploads directory and then continue on
to the dbBackups directory. The dbBackups directory had one new file, and
the uploads directory had no new or modified files (this is actually
expected on the weekends).
In the log file I see:
2003/8/23 19:01:48 incr backup started back to 2003-08-22 17:16:18 for
2003/8/23 19:03:19 incr backup started back to 2003-08-22 17:16:18 for
2003/8/23 19:05:06 Got fatal error during xfer (No files dumped for share
2003/8/23 19:05:16 Dump aborted (No files dumped for share uploads)
I don't believe that the entire dump should have been aborted simply
because there were no new or updated files in the uploads directory.
Another thing I noticed, is that when the ClientTimeout expires, instead
of saving the progress that had been achieved so far, the entire dump is
aborted, and you have to start all over again. Is this really the desired
Thanks for your time. Hopefully I'm not just missing a config option, or
other similar thing.
