I'm trying to figure out why all our backups stop once one of our = computers receives signal=3DALRM. The ALRM signal was received because = the user turned off his computer while the backup was running. Should the other computers still be backing up ok? It seems that all = operations have halted. The BackupPC_dump process is still showing as running for the computer = that received the ALRM signal. Any ideas? We are running 2.0.0beta1. Dale, This happened to me last week to me. It turned out that a machine backup ran past the 11pm blackout period and was preventing the maintenance job from running, eventually maintenance ran, then the queued jobs went ahead. Dale Renton said: > By the maintenance program do you mean : By default, BackupPC runs BackupPC_Nightly as a maintenance job, log clean up, trashcan emptying, email notification and daily webstats. If this process is in the middle of running, then any jobs queued up at that time will probably wait until it's finished before starting. Doug |

oops, hit ALT-S by mistake ... By the maintenance program do you mean : Also, once each night, BackupPC_nightly is run to complete some additional administrative tasks, such as cleaning the pool. This involves removing any files in the pool that only have a single hard link (meaning no backups are using that file). Again, to avoid race conditions, BackupPC_nightly is only run when there are no BackupPC_dump or BackupPC_link processes running. This program will never run because BackupPC_dump is still running from the ALRM signal backup. I believe this would be the case. Doug Dale Renton said: > oops, hit ALT-S by mistake ... > > By the maintenance program do you mean : > > Also, once each night, BackupPC_nightly is run to complete some additional > administrative tasks, such as cleaning the pool. This involves removing |
