Hello all, I've just started setting up BackupPC for one of our labs here. I've managed to get through installing BackupPC and fixing the config.pl and hosts files with the first test client. The scripts ran overnight and I now have a couple of GB worth of backups in my data directory. This activity is reflected in the log/LOG file and by querying with `BackupPC_serverMesg status info` I have apache with mod_perl running as the local backup user on port 8008, and i can get the web interface pages in a web browser. However, when I use the web interface, I don't get any information back under Status (no lines at all between the header line "BackupPC Server Status" and "Currently Running Jobs", and under Hosts Summary it tells me: There are 0 hosts that have been backed up, for a total of: * full backups of total size 0.00GB (prior to pooling and compression), * incr backups of total size 0.00GB (prior to pooling and compression). So it seems that I'm having problems getting the status of the running server. I get a bunch of errors in the apache error logs that seem to be related to BackupPC, see below. Has anyone seen something like this, or does anyone have an idea where I should start digging for answers to this? tail access_log 129.64.81.113 - rat [28/Jun/2004:10:26:41 -0400] "GET /cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin HTTP/1.1" 200 1983 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9" 129.64.81.113 - - [28/Jun/2004:10:26:41 -0400] "GET /rat/BackupPC_stnd.css HTTP/1.1" 304 - "http://albino.bio.brandeis.edu:8008/cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9" 129.64.81.113 - - [28/Jun/2004:10:26:41 -0400] "GET /rat/logo.gif HTTP/1.1" 304 - "http://albino.bio.brandeis.edu:8008/cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9" 129.64.81.113 - rat [28/Jun/2004:10:27:20 -0400] "GET /cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin?action=summary HTTP/1.1" 200 2621 "http://albino.bio.brandeis.edu:8008/cgi-bin/BackupPC_Admin" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9" grep 10:2[67] error_log [Mon Jun 28 10:26:41 2004] -e: Use of uninitialized value in vec at /usr/local/rat/lib/BackupPC/Lib.pm line 599. Sorry, I can answer my own question now... I had to add my backup user account in config.pl -- I hadn't quite understood that the cgi was giving user specific information (actually, that could be really useful!) $Conf{CgiAdminUserGroup} $Conf{CgiAdminUsers} thanks again for the cool software.
