I just released a patch file for BackupPC-2.1.0beta2. The file is called
BackupPC-2.1.0beta2pl1.diff and is available in the BackupPC-2.1.0beta2
package on http://backuppc.sourceforge.net.
This patch should be applied to a cleanly unpacked BackupPC-2.1.0beta2.tar.gz
prior to installation. It bumps the version number to 2.1.0beta2pl1,
so you can know which patch level you have applied. I expect to use
a similar patch mechanism in the future. More detailed instructions
are in the patch file.
The patch fixes the following things:
- Fixes bug in rsync checksum caching code in BackupPC::Xfer::RsyncDigest.
This fixes a problem that caused md4 checksum failures in all the prior
- BackupPC_zipCreate now ensures the earliest mtime is 1/1/1980,
since zip file formats don't support earlier dates.
- CGI restore via zip and tar now makes sure stderr is ignored
when BackupPC_tarCreate and BackupPC_zipCreate are run.
Previously any stderr output would get mixed in the archive,
Also, I recently released a new version 0.52 of File::RsyncP. This fixes
some intermittent hang problems caused by a deadlock in File::RsyncP.
If you are having problems with rsync transfers hanging using BackupPC
I recommend you upgrade.

Do I also have to upfgrade Backuppc?
