I am sorry if this is off-topic but I hope someone will have the answer (and find it worth answering :)

I have created a Software RAID 5 on my Redhat box to store the Backuppc data on.  If I do a "reboot" there is no problem - everything comes back up fine.  However, if I do a "shutdown now"  in order to do a cold boot, when the computer boots back up the RAID re-initializes (160GB so it takes about 10 hours).

Is there a way I can get it to not do this?  I was thinking, create a shutdown script that will do:
/etc/init.d/backuppc stop
umount /backupdata
raidstop /dev/md0
init 6

I am waiting for it to rebuild now ( 2 hours to go) so I figured I would ask while I am waiting in case someone knows some better way to fix this :)

Thanks a lot,

Leon
