    Hi,

I've been using backup2l for some time to do my backups. Recently I had to use the backuped files and restore them. This produced the following error:

    >    gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
    >    tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
    >    tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

The error occured with differnt backups I made and each time I was not able to restore my files completely. This makes the tool quite useless if I cannot rely on the files to be properly restored.

What puzzled me, is that the zipped backup files are all max. 4,0 GB of size (even if the unzipped data is much more). Might there be a problem with zipping the backups?

Any ideas on how sort the problem out?

    TIA

    Claus

I think I solved the problem when I recently found that FAT32 is not able to handle filey larger than 4 GB. The mobile HD which is use for my backups *is* FAT32 (to enable data exchange with Windows-Systems), so very likely that is the basic problem.

      Hi,

I have the same problem now, but:

      - My zipped files are not so big, just 2 GB, and my partition is vfat.
      - When I started using backup2l I restored some files without any problem.

The error message is exactly the same.

      Anybody knows what's wrong?

      Thanks,

      Perepe
