make the interface more AJAXy in general
* trees and dynamic attribute templates should use ajax to display
* form submission should be an AJX query rather than a submission
* messages should use AJAX to display in response to actions
* messages should disappear after a configurable amount of time
* messages should be deletable with 'x' boxes
etc...
