If you can't change the logformat of your mailserver, then you can use a search and replace tool that preprocesses the logfile and replaces the newline char with e.g. a blank char.
However, I doubt that this will get you any further, because the fields in the logfile need to match the grid awstats uses.

My mail server creates a log file that lists everything needed for awstats BUT it creates the file in row format, like this
time
size
send / recieve
recipient
sender
