updating old statistics with new config

  • Nobody/Anonymous

I've added new new SkipHosts criteria in the awstats.conf file, and want to apply it retrospectively to two previous months to generate stats that ignore these hosts. How do I go about this?

If you still have ALL of them then reprocess your logfiles.
If you don't, you will have to live with the fact, that only new updates will properly handle the new SkipHosts setting.

If you want to reprocess all your logfiles then do the following:

      1) Go to awstats data dir and search for the respective domain database text file. E.g. awstats082004.domain.txt, awstats092004.domain.txt and awstats102004.domain.txt.
      2) Rename those files (For returning to the old results - just in case that you don't get the results you had expected)
      3) Make the old logfiles available for awstats (e.g. through logresolvemerge; http://awstats.sourceforge.net/docs/awstats_tools.html)
      4) Enjoy your new results.

      Best regards,
