I have a common log with 2 years worth of statistics. I would like to switch to combined log format. Does this mean I would have to user two config files, one for each type of the log file?
    Thanks

I'm no expert, but I don't think so. I made the switch from common to combined. I have my logs divided by month.
Originally the logformat specified in the config was common. Using that config I added my older logs (common format) to the awstats database. When I switched log formats, I just changed the logformat in the config and processed the new (combined format) log. The old data is still in the awstats database. No problems.
Incidentally, if you try to process a combined format log but specify the logformat as common, it'll work. Awstats just ignores the extra data. That makes it easier to switch from common to combined if you're worried about have a log file of mixed-format.
