This "bug" is in reference the Perl/PHP scripts available, e.g. CGI pslogger enhanced by AWStats and php version of CGI pslogger made by Florent CHANTRET.
If the web server is behind a firewall/gateway, the reported IP address by "REMOTE_ADDR" is often that of this device rather than the remote user. To find the IP of the visitor, HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR can be used instead. This worked successfully for me and thought I would share.
