Well since this is avr libc 'the next step' it's like avr++ which in a
literal sence would be bwr (a+1, v+1, r+1). Which happens to coincide with
burbon/beer, whisky, scotch. So libbwr. Where beer might refer to a
possible license…
On the other hand we could do something as simple as inverting AVR to RVA,
which would be Real Value Addition/Really Value Adding or something that
suits the "marketing" issue.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
So far lots of name have been given. Among them:
- avr-drv
- avr-highlib
- avr-microutils
- LibAVR
- yalfa (yet another library for avr)
- lidr, or avr-lidr (from library & drivers)
- bonbon (not really google-safe, but certainly good ;-) )
<br />
So any new idea, preference?
On the avr-libc mailing list the following has been proposed:
- "AVR Core Library" or shorter, "AVR Core".
I changed the project name for now to AVR Core Library to avoid confusion with avr-libc and because it is not a C library anyway.

I like the unix name "avr-core", which fits with the prettier name "AVR Core Library".
