John, Thanks I'll try this later tonight. Can you explain more about what you mean with regard to patching clang? My thought on how to do it was to checkout llvm. Then checkout clang into llvm per the getting started guide<http://clang.llvm.org/get_started.html>(step 3). Then build and end up with a clang executable that can target the avr machine architecture. Is there something I need to do between checking out clang and building?
