Bad form to reply to one's own post, I know, but I sussed it about a microsecond after I pressed "Send". Weldon, you need to Install the Eclipse CDT (C/C++ Developers Toolkit) components as well - they are a prerequisite, vanilla Eclipse is not enough. Cheers Gareth |

Hi I just installed Winavr, Eclipse and then the plugin, in that order. All fresf installs on this machine, an HP dual core running Vista. At the end of the install I received an error. "A error occurred in the System Paths Scan". Now Ecllipse seems fine, but I can't even create a new c project without throwing an exception. Is this the problem from the "Known issues" page? I couldn't find anything about it on Sourceforge. |

Isn't that hard, but just wishing ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-07-21 14:01 Message: LOL, on the other hand I think I know why. The files i am linking to actually have .c file extensions and .S. Thus, when the linker tries to link, it must first compile the files to .o files. Since these files need the user defined usbconfig.h, one must include an include path. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-07-21 13:55 Message: OK, you're probably right, the situation is a little different I realize. Basically, the compilation is separated into different components. The .o files are produced, then the elf, etc. In the .o file compilation for my code, the includes from compilation are included. However, once it gets to the elf files, the include paths aren't included. I've found that by doing the above, it solves the problem. Perhaps, the solution is simply to include those include paths in the elf compilation too? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-07-21 09:34 Message: In general, isn't a incude path option for the linker pointless as headers are integrated at compile time, not at linking time? But it goes in the same direction as what I asked Thomas about a year ago for. I have some kind of libraries that cannot be precompiled like a usual lib because defines like ports or ids differ from µC to µC. In addition, for example, these µC may have different clock rates so a F_CPU in the library project is useless. I figured a way to get such a behaviour with simple projects, still working, you just have to get the trick. Thomas had the idea of several build configs for the lib, like Release_MC1, Release_MC2 and so on which is intricate and moves the config from the main project to several lib projects, which is imo not that nice. Would be grateful for a nice solution, too! The plugin does not include AVRDude! You need to install it yourself. Maybe you have an older version of AVRDude installed. The GDB Hardware Debugger configuration uses the gdb command 'restore' to load the image, but it seems that 'restore' does not work with spaces in filenames. However I just tried a workaround that seems to work: In the debugging configuration for your project on the 'Startup' tab disable the 'Load image', and instead enter the following into the text field at the top under 'Initialization Commands': load \"C:\\your path with spaces\\project\\Debug\\file.elf\" (with backslashes in front of the quotes and double backslashes in the path) Unlike 'restore' the gdb 'load' command can handle quoted strings. I have only tested it with simulavr, but the same should hopefully also work for avarice. I leave this bug report open, as I still plan on writing a replacement for the "GDB Hardware Debugging" configuration especially geared for AVR debugging. P.S. The "No symbol "new" in current context." message is normal and can be ignored. Eclipse/CDT sends a 'gdb-set new-console on' command to gdb, but avr-gdb does not have a 'new-console' variable so this call fails (without negative effects). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2009-05-24 14:10 Message: You can forget about it. It turned out to be problem in gdb (version 6.6). It does the same if I manually use a command-line. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=928231&aid=2796061&group_id=189165 |

I get a warning when I try to download that AVRDude does not support the 48 and when I try to simulate with simulavr I get the same type of issue? Todd, sorry, but analyzing the files showed no anonmalies. Everything is set up correctly and if I use your settings to build a simple test everything gets generated as expected. AFAIK it should be impossible that output from one build configuration ends up in the folder for a different build configuration. So please delete both the 'Debug' and the 'Release' folders from your project (this is save and is basically equivalent to a very thorough clean), rebuild the 'Release' build config and, if there is still no hex file in the Release folder, send me the complete output from the build console. brgds, Thomas Holoubek Todd wrote: > Thank you - here are the files > On May 4, 2009, at 4:02 PM, Thomas Holland wrote: > >> Hi Todd, >> >> for troubleshooting I would like to take a look at the '.project' and >> '.cproject' files from the offending project. >> >> Thomas >> >> Holoubek Todd wrote: >>> Hello >>> >>> I can build, but no .hex file is created in the release folder. Hi Todd, for troubleshooting I would like to take a look at the '.project' and '.cproject' files from the offending project. Hello I can build, but no .hex file is created in the release folder. Oddly enough, a hex file is created in the debug folder. I have the generate hex for Flash checked in the properties. Any thoughts? Peace Todd Holoubek |
