Help - I've reloaded Helios several times from scratch and then load the AVR
plugin. The plug-in shows up in the Intsall New Software list. But the toolbar
and Window => custom Perspective list do not show the AVR tools. Can someone
tell me why the AVR tools do not show up in eclipse when the plugin appears to
be loaded just fine?

Never had that error - during my experiments with HELIOS I just found it important to switch the embedded browser thing (my forum topic) in the eclipse.ini. The thing with the eclipse.ini gives a boost to all display functions (correct display and function in menus) so this could be an entry point.
*Other thing in linux is that you should use a directory with user rights. In my experimences. So for the first (unix related) tests perhaps you use /home/eclipse for the first (plugin install and further tests)
*It seems to me that SUN JDK is important also, so I uninstalled OpenJRE and the other java realted Open-Sutt first and then reinstalled the SUN JAVA jdk (apply synaptec to restriced soures first).
Maybe a thing which should be checked.
this were the key point's and I got a system running (and I'm very happy with
this)
(the "unresolved inclusion" warning I still didn't found on my first test
installation (a fresh set up laptop running erorfree) - this could be related
to the AVR/PATH preference function (finding the PATHS) or beeing related to
the fact that there are some toolchanins installed (I'm still searching on
that).
Good luck, post when you find something.
