Not sure if this is the correct way/place, but it looks like it is the only way/place to discuss this.

SourceForge doesn’t seem to be the best place to discuss Avidemux development; the forum does. Unfortunately, the forum is using manual-approval of account registration (which never seems to happen), and has apparently blocked entire domains from being used for the registration email.

There’s a few problems here.

  1. If there is a spam problem, do not just block entire domains; simply add a CAPTCHA to the registration page. Problem (99%) solved.
  2. If you need to block a domain/email host, then do NOT allow users to enter such an address in the registration page in the first place. Tell them up front in the registration that they need to use a different address; don’t quietly accept the bad domain and then leave the user wondering what’s going on.
  3. The option to change the email address does not work; it gives an access-denied error message. As such, I have been unable to register and have been left hanging in limbo all year.
  4. I never even got a confirmation email like I have from every single other forum on the Internet. How exactly does this “manual” approval work anyway?

Please fix the forum. Avidemux is a great program, but it has bugs that need to be fixed and improvements that can make it even better, but without an effective way to give feedback, that can’t happen.
