Hi,

I am running Debian (sid) and am switching from the
BNV_HAVE_QT macros to your gwqt.m4.

I followed the instructions in the documentation and
added gw_CHECK_QT to configure.in (without
installation); the following is the result:

checking for X... libraries /usr/X11R6/lib, headers
/usr/X11R6/include
checking QTDIR... /usr/share/qt3
checking Qt version... 334 (3)
checking for moc... moc
checking for uic... uic
checking for qembed... qembed
checking if Qt is static... no
checking if Qt is multithreaded... no
checking if Qt is embedded... no
checking QT_CXXFLAGS... -I/usr/share/qt3/include
checking QT_LDADD... -L/usr/share/qt3/lib

As you can see no qt library is added to the LDADD
flags. Compilation succeeds, but I recieve the error
message:

ImportError: ./lmcqt.so: undefined symbol:
_ZN7QString11shared_nullE

when loading the file.

I dived into your .m4 file and found you using the
variable ${host} in line 66 and 128. This variable is
empty on my machine, thus QT_LIB gets detected
correctly, but not added to QT_LIBS in the
case-statement on line 128.

I suggest adding the following lines before the first
usage of ${host}, which solves the problem for me:

if test x"${host}" == x""; then
host=`uname -o | tr -s A-Z a-z`
fi

Also I have several qtlibs installed and flags for
choosing libqt-mt instead of libqt would be nice, too ;)

Thanks for this project
Ciao
