I have downloaded AutoMySQLBackup how do I install it so that it backs up my live databases to my local machine?
in /etc/cron.daily place a symlink to the script file
ln -sf /path/to/automysqlbackup.sh.2.5 automysqlbackup.sh.2.5
AutoMySQLBackup is installed by
1) just copying it to a path where additional code is located at the machine (eg /srv/bin, /usr/local/bin …),
2) setting variables inside the script* and
3) adding a line to /etc/crontab to tell crond wich time the script should run.
* Later versions will provide a separate config file.
Is it worth to write an installation routine for this 3 steps?
Should I rename automysqlbackup.sh.2.5 ti automysqlbackup.sh?
You can rename it anything you like as long as it is executable..
