I initially developed AutoHDR to improve some simple holiday snaps. It's mostly my own method of mapping the highlights and shadows in an image which accurately maps edges and avoids introducing halos that you get in a lot of commercial products. I call it Pseudo-HDR because it works on a single exposure so there isn't actually eny extra dynamic range, it just makes a lot more of what is available. Development has been organic with new features in various stages of development added as they occurred to me or users asked for them.
In short, while the results of the software are really nice, the code itself could use a serious overhaul. I'm not intending to do any further developmement but I'm willing to answer any questions on how it works as I've been pretty lax in commenting the code.
Main areas of development needed are support for RAW image formats, a better method of image alignment for stacking exposures and better use of memory. There are currently 200+ members of the facebook group and it has been included on cover CDs of a few software magazines.

There is also a website - www.autohdr.co.uk - which has a bit more information and examples. You can download the latest compiled version from there as well.
